Workers’ organisations in Iran: Freedom does not arrive via missiles, stand with the Iranian people not war
Iranian labour and women’s groups condemn US-Israeli strikes, rejecting foreign intervention while calling for grassroots social organisation to achieve true liberation.
Iranian workers' and women's organisations have reacted to the US-Israeli attacks. In a statement by the Iran Workers’ Union, it was noted: “War has only one achievement: destruction, poverty, and massacre.”
The statement included the following expressions: “To those who imagine that the war missiles and bombardments of foreigners will bring 'freedom', 'prosperity', and 'democracy' to the Iranian people on their wings, one must ask: Where in history have the seeds of democracy sprouted upon the ashes of destroyed homes and the blood of innocent people? Which country has attained prosperity through the bombing of its infrastructure and the displacement of its people, that we should be the second? War has only one achievement: destruction, poverty, and massacre. Freedom and development never pass through a sky filled with missiles and the ruined homes of people. As Iranian workers, we damn the attacks of Israel and the USA.”
"The only true power is the organisation of society"
The Iran Labour Confederation also called upon the peoples and labourers of the world to struggle.
The statement said: “The killing of Ali Khamenei and key figures of the regime apparatus is not an ordinary event in Iran’s process of transformation; it is a decisive blow dealt to the heart of the oppression mechanism and the backbone of the Islamic Republic. However, the naked truth must be told: This blow occurred in the midst of a war that started outside the will of the people and turned cities into killing fields. The attacks of the USA and Israel must be condemned unconditionally; no ‘saviour’ narrative can justify the massacre of the people. At the same time, it must be emphasised: The Islamic Republic is not a victim of this war, but one of its primary architects. The death of Khamenei is not the end of the crisis; on the contrary, it is proof that a structure unable to reproduce its authority has entered an irreversible phase of instability.”
Emphasising the will of the people, the following expressions were used: “The only power that will frustrate this process is the independent and general organisation of society from the bottom up. The issue is not merely saying 'no to war', but consciously using this vacuum of authority for a revolutionary destruction. The working class, youth, and women must know that no foreign power will bring freedom. The strengthening of trade unions and the establishment of local committees and councils is no longer an option, but an urgent necessity both to survive under war conditions and to take our destiny into our own hands. We call upon the peoples and labourers of the world to stand not with the war machines, but with the right of the Iranian people to build their own future.”
"Genocidaires, get your hands off Iran"
The Iranian women’s organisation Osyan also published a statement.
“The news of Khamenei’s death is staggering for many people who have lived for decades under oppression, poverty, execution, imprisonment, and a lack of a future. However, the killing of such a tyrant by imperialist-fascist criminals like America and Israel does not grant them any legitimacy or righteousness,” the statement said, continuing as follows:
“These are representatives of the same global order; one is as much a murderer as the other. The conflict between them is not for the freedom of the Iranian people, but over interests and the redistribution of power within the same system. Let us not fall into illusion: Our enemy’s enemy is not our friend! Perhaps the only moment we can truly rejoice will be the moment when the Islamic Republic is entirely overthrown by the people, and the hands of warmongers, genocidaires, and global criminals are completely withdrawn from our people, our nature, and our future. We call out to the murderous USA and Israel: Get your hands off Iran!”
