EMEP: 'Stop the imperialist and zionist aggressors against Iran!'
The Labour Party (EMEP) has issued a statement warning following the start of US and Israeli bombings of Iran, calling for the immediate closure of NATO and US bases in Turkey and urging the working class to rise up against imperialist "banditry."
The Labour Party (EMEP) released a written statement condemning the military strikes launched by the United States and Israel against Iran. EMEP characterised the offensive as a pre-planned act of aggression that exposes the strategic use of nuclear negotiations as a mere "preparation for war".
"The aim is not democracy, but plunder"
The statement drew sharp parallels between the current situation and previous US interventions in the Middle East and North Africa. EMEP highlighted that past calls for "regime change" and "democratisation" in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan resulted only in "burned and destroyed nations" and the rise of terrorist organisations like ISIS.
"The claim that American imperialism seeks to change the Iranian regime because of its reactionary character is merely intended to deceive the people," the statement read. "Regimes are changed by the working class and the people". The party further noted that while the US targets Iran, it continues to support "the most reactionary regimes" in the world, such as Saudi Arabia, as long as they align with American interests.
A warning of regional escalation
EMEP warned that the current conflict is poised to be larger than the "12-Day War," with Iran now retaliating against US bases in Gulf countries and Yemeni Houthis striking US targets. The party labeled the actions of the US and Israel as "banditry" intended to repartition the world's resources.
Regarding the nuclear issue, the statement criticised the hypocrisy of the aggressors: "While the US and Israel possess nuclear weapons, labeling others’ nuclear research as a problem amounts to saying: ‘I am the master of the world’".
Calls for action in Turkey
The Labour Party took aim at the Turkish government's stance, demanding an end to the silence regarding the attacks. The statement specifically called for:
- The immediate closure of all NATO and US bases in Turkey.
- The halting of all US and Israeli military activities on Turkish soil.
- An open condemnation of Zionist aggression by the AKP government.
The statement concluded with a call for international solidarity: "The peoples of the world must rise up to stop imperialist aggression... The people of Turkey must unite against imperialist and Zionist aggressors and raise the struggle for peace" (EVRENSEL DAILY)
