The Israeli military claimed to have destroyed dozens of radars and surface-to-air missile launchers in Iran, announcing that it had "completed a comprehensive attack on Iran's air defense systems." Hours after this statement, explosions were heard in Iran's Tabriz and Shiraz provinces.
Some media outlets reported an explosion near Tabriz International Airport. Eyewitnesses also reported hearing loud explosions in Tabriz. It is alleged that the 2nd Fighter Base in Tabriz was targeted.
Following several explosions in Shiraz, some Iranian media reported that military strikes had been carried out against certain targets in the city.
The Israeli military, which claimed to have destroyed dozens of radars and surface-to-air missile launchers in Iran, argued that this move "would enhance Israel's freedom of action in Iranian airspace."
Iranian commanders and scientists killed
Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that Israel had launched a "preemptive" attack against Iran and declared a state of emergency in Israel. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation was named "Rising Lion" and said, "We struck at the heart of Iran's nuclear enrichment program. We targeted Iran's main enrichment facility in Natanz."
Four senior commanders of the Revolutionary Guards—Bagheri, Selami, Rashid, and Shamkhani—were killed in Israel's attack on Iran. It was also reported that six Iranian scientists were killed, including the chancellor of Azad University, Tehranchi, and former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Abbasi.

Iran directs hundreds of drones in retaliation
An Israeli military commander claimed that Iran's air defense systems were destroyed in the latest attack on the Islamic Republic. The Israeli military stated that Iran had directed more than 100 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) toward Israel in retaliation for the attacks and had begun tracking the launched drones.
US: We were not involved in these attacks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on the attacks, saying, "We were not involved in these attacks. President Trump and his administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and maintain close contact with our allies in the region. Iran must not target US interests or personnel."
Iran: They will pay a heavy price
Iran's General Staff Spokesperson, Abolfazl Shikarchi, made the first statement regarding the attack, saying, "Israel carried out its attacks on Iran with the help of the US. They will pay a heavy price." Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei stated that some commanders and scientists had been killed in Israel's attacks and announced that they would respond harshly to Israel.
Iranian media reported that more than 250 attacks occurred in various regions of Iran, primarily in the capital Tehran and Tabriz, with numerous military targets hit in the initial strike. Iranian press noted that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' military targets, commanders, headquarters, and nuclear facilities were attacked.
Iranian state television reported that the Natanz nuclear facility, located 225 kilometers south of Tehran, was targeted twice in Israel's attacks. It was also reported that Revolutionary Guards Commander Hossein Selami and nuclear scientists, including former Atomic Energy Organization head Fereydoun Abbasi and Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, were killed.
Iranian state television also broadcast footage allegedly showing Israel targeting civilian areas in Tehran. It was claimed that these were buildings housing high-ranking officials.
Israel announces a combined attack
The Israeli military stated that dozens of jets participated in the attacks on Iran.
The statement said, "The first phase, which included strikes on dozens of military targets, including nuclear sites in different regions of Iran, has been completed."
The statement claimed that Iran is "closer than ever" to possessing nuclear weapons and that these weapons pose a threat to Israel and the entire world. Israel threatened to strike "wherever necessary" to defend its citizens.
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, in a statement following the attacks on Iran, said, "I warn those who challenge us—you will pay a heavy price." He stated that they had reached a "point of no return" with the attacks and claimed they had no choice but to strike Iran. Zamir added, "The expected cost will be different than usual."
