DAILY OPINIONS

China is so striving to help the peoples of the world !..

China has more than $2 trillion stock of capital outside the country. It has lent many countries high amounts of money. At the same time, it has also assumed the financing of many projects outside the country.

China has been developing at a crown rate, and it is believed that it will catch up with and get ahead of the USA at the start of 2030’s. It has grown 2.3% even in 2020 in which the pandemic and the crisis of capitalism intertwined.

In addition to its modern technology foundation developed in the last few decades,  its competitive low-cost labour oriented economy has already started to produce “capital surplus.” Besides being a world champion in exporting goods, China has rapidly happened to export capital too. As of now, China has more than $2 trillion stock of capital outside the country. It has lent many countries high amounts of money. At the same time, it has also assumed the financing of many projects outside the country. For it is known to be a socialist country and also the name of its only governing party is Communist Party of China, due to either their old habit or them looking for a “saviour” in their more liberal tendency, some ‘leftists’ from various countries believe China strives to help the peoples of the world; or they think so.

China has developed a foreign investment and partnership project called “the Belt and Road Initiative,” and implemented it in 2013.  Providing $60 Billion credit in the context of this “initiative,” investing in common partnerships with the local monopolies, it convinced Pakistan to switch its “orbit,” and to get its ruling class to shift from an American collaborator to its own proponent.

In March of this year, China signed off on a huge treaty with Iran. During the next 25 years, China will invest $400 Billion in this country, and it will import oil and gas at a bargain price in return. The rulers of the two countries are of the same opinion that it is not such a bad deal, despite that the Mullahs, even those in the ruling elite in Iran, have some opposition to it as “the country was cheaply sold out to China.” In the meantime, having the support of China, Iran ragged the USA on the old nuclear treaty responding “it cannot happen unless the embargo is lifted” to  Biden  who had just announced that he had wanted to renew the old treaty but expected the first step from Iran.

In order to sign the treaty, Chinese foreign affairs minister had gone to Iran over Turkey where he had stopped to meet with Erdogan and Cavusoglu. Turkey being also eager to be part of “the Belt and Road Initiative,” this was also negotiated along with other credit requests. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railroad had been put to operation as the “middle corridor” of the “initiative,” and had transported more than 1 million tons of load during the last year. Using this road, over the Caspian sea, through Central Asian countries, export goods had begun to be sent to China. One end of it would be connected via Edirne-Kars Highspeed Railroad to London as the last destination. China opened the line of credit.

Such Chinese banks like Bank of China, Industrial and Trade Bank of China, have been operating in Turkey in cooperation with the two “local and national” finance institutions  named as Bank of China Turkey AS and ICBC Turkey AS of Chinese capital. Chinese capital has investments in trendyol, NETAS Telekom, Tekstil Bank, Kumport SeaPort, and Yavuz Selim Bridge and Highway Operations, many commercial ads of whom are recently frequently published in the media. China had also provided $750 Million for the construction of Ankara-Istanbul Highspeed Railroad, in addition to $3.6 Billion credit in 2018, Turkcell had borrowed last year $500 Million from the Development Bank of China, and Ziraat Bankası had also borrowed this year $400 Million from Chinese Exim Bank. Now-a-days, China is looking for a proper location to establish a Free Trade Zone. Another “good news” for some is from the famous Huawei: This Chinese High-tech monopoly has established in Turkey its largest Research and Development centre outside China.

Perhaps such “successes” are not yet as huge as those of Iran-China relations are, but Turkey-China relations too can be viewed as growing.

From the point of view of the peoples of both Iran and Turkey, the three examples of such exemplary Chinese “aid,” so far, are alarming. The first is China financing and assuming the construction of South Colombo Seaport of Sri Lanka. China “leased” the Seaport for 99 years at a price of $ 1.12 Billion through a treaty in 2017 upon Sri Lanka’s defaulting on its debt. The same thing happened to Kenya. Despite neither of the governments make any announcements regarding the situation, there is a word floating around that the ownership of the Seaport at Mombasa was transferred to China after Kenya, this time, had had difficulties in its credit re-payments to China who had assumed the financing and construction of Mombasa Seaport along with that of its Railroad connection to Nairobi. And the last one is the leasing of 66% share of Piraeus Seaport by Tsipras to China until 2052, even if it was for the purpose of avoiding the debt trap of Europeans !

No matter which, the USA, Russia, or China, it is a must to fight against imperialism.
