Cabinet shuffle in Turkey: Justice and defence ministers changed

Prime minister Binali Yıldırım announced a cabinet reshuffle, replacing or swapping 11 ministers in the 26-member council of ministers after a surprise meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Binali Yıldırım named legislator Abdülhamit Gül as the new justice minister and former deputy prime minister Nurettin Canikli as the defence minister. The former ministers for justice and defence were appointed deputy prime ministers.

Yildirim made the announcement following a surprise meeting with Erdogan.

Erdogan has been complained of a "fatigue" within the ruling party (AKP), speaking of a need for rejuvenation since he regained the leadership of AKP following a narrow win in a referendum. (EVRENSEL DAILY)
