Labour Party of Turkey (​​​​​​​EMEP) Malatya Provincial Chair Kemal Gültekin was arrested on the grounds of having engaged in “terrorist organization propaganda.”

The Labour Party of Turkey (EMEP) Malatya Provincial Chair Kemal Gültekin was arrested this morning in a search conducted at his home.

EMEP Malatya Provincial Chair Kemal Gültekin was arrested this morning on the stated grounds of having engaged in “terrorist organization propaganda” at actions and events he participated in between the years of 2012 and 2014. In the search conducted at Gültekin’s home, certain of his books were seized as being “objectionable.” Arrested following the search made at his home, Gültekin's procedures at the police are continuing.

EMEP General Executive Committee Member Umut Yeğin announced the arrest on his Twitter account. Yeğin posted, “The Labour Party’s Provincial Chair has been arrested in Malatya. His home searched early in the morning, EMEP Malatya Provincial Chair Kemal Gültekin was arrested on the stated grounds of having engaged in “terrorist organization propaganda” at actions and events he participated in between the years of 2012 and 2014.”

Morning searches were also made at the homes of Labour Party Provincial Executive Board Members Nejdet Bali and Beyhan Bali, who were outside the province.

HDP SUB-PROVINCIAL CHAIR ALSO UNDER ARREST

Elsewhere, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Akçadağ Sub-Provincial Co-Chair Sezgin Yaylagül and son of former Yazıhan Sub-Provincial Co-Chair, Salih Sertkaya, were also arrested.
