Strike started at Tekno Maccaferri in Düzce

Members of the Birleşik Metal-İş Union at Tekno Maccaferri went on strike due to the failure to reach an agreement on collective bargaining negotiations since March.

The boss’ plot at Tekno companies group, active in the building and metal sectors, had been spolied by a court order. The dispute takes place in the steel wire factory in Duzce, which was built in conjunction with the Italian giant Officine Maccaferri.

IF YOU WANT TO STOP THE STRIKE, YOU WON'T REACH A RESOLUTION

Following the failure of the employer of Tekno to interfere with the right to strike of his workers, Tekno Maccaferri workers have gone on strike, hanging their strike banner at the entrance to the factory. Workers have been repeating their slogan of “long live our honourable struggle.”

In his speech outside the factory, Birleşik Metal-İş General Secretary Adnan Serdaroğlu said “We are entering a period where we probably will suffer financial hardship at home but will continue our honourable struggle. Nobody can tell when it will end. It could end tonight or last a year. The employer has a decision to make. Employers have taken liberties, relying on the ban on strikes but have been met with the right response. If you attempt to drag people to strike relying on government policies, you will not reach a resolution. If the government bans this strike, rest assured that you cannot find peace and security here.” (EVRENSEL DAILY)
